Planned Parenthood Is Closing Clinics But Not The Ones You Think

Recent numbers released on Ohio’s abortion dashbaord show us that Cincinnati is now home to one of the top 5 abortion clinics in Ohio—and the battle for life is heating up.

Planned Parenthood is closing clinics but not the ones performing abortions.

On August 1, 2025, Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio officially shut down two of its locations: the Hamilton Health Center and the Springfield Health Center. But here’s the critical detail, neither of these clinics provided abortions. They were general health centers, offering services like STD testing and birth control. Their closure wasn’t about scaling back—it was about doubling down.

Because while those doors closed, Planned Parenthood has been pouring its resources—money, staff, and strategy—into its Auburn Avenue location in Cincinnati, which does perform abortions. Since the passage of Ohio’s Issue 1 in 2023, which enshrined abortion access into the state constitution, this clinic has seen a dramatic increase in traffic. It’s now considered one of the top five abortion clinics in the state of Ohio, serving not just local women but also those traveling from surrounding areas with tighter restrictions.

In fact, our community is facing one of the biggest pro-life battles yet.

The chemical abortion pill is now more accessible than ever, available online, in pharmacies, and even by mail. It’s marketed as quick, easy, and private. But behind that convenience is a baby fighting for life and a woman in crisis, scared and searching for hope. Women are now being reached earlier, often before they’ve had a chance to see an ultrasound or talk to someone who will truly listen. Many are overwhelmed and convinced that abortion is their only option.
