Finding Purpose in the Unplanned: Zacary & Alexis’s Story
When Alexis and Zacary first found out they were pregnant, they were scared and unsure of how they would provide for the little baby just beginning to take shape inside Alexis’s womb. At the time, they were both simply wandering through life without much direction.
Reflecting on that season, Zacary shared, “I just kind of went through life day by day, just going to work.”
Meanwhile, Alexis was spending much of her spare time partying in between working at UDF and Chipotle. The two also admitted that they were fighting a lot.
Today, their lives look completely different. Since then, Alexis and Zacary have also taken another beautiful step in their journey by getting married and committing their lives to one another as they prepare to welcome their daughter.
As their baby girl has grown more each day, so have they. They have grown closer together and finally feel like they have a purpose in life.
“I have something to look forward to,” Zacary said.
Alexis feels the same way. “I always loved him (Zacary), but now I just love him even more,” she shared.

The couple lives in Lawrenceburg and commutes each week to attend parenting classes at our center. Two of the volunteers God has used in their journey are Tom, our Dads Coach, and Judy, our Client Advocate, both featured with the couple above.
Through these classes, Alexis and Zacary are being equipped with the skills they need to raise their daughter and have been able to obtain everything they need for her, including diapers, wipes, clothes, and so much more!
Alexis’s mom has also been a tremendous source of support. She’s offered to drive them to appointments when they were having car trouble and even opened up her basement so the couple could create a home of their own. Alexis has been hard at work making the space ready for their growing family.
One of their favorite parts of coming to appointments happens on the drive home. After each visit, they turn off the music in the car and spend the ride talking about everything they learned.
Alexis has even started a baby book to document their parenthood journey and one day share it with their daughter. Inside, she has saved the Mother’s Day card she received from our center and plans to include this very story from our newsletter.
Alexis and Zacary are two of the sweetest people we have had the honor of walking alongside at our center. Every time they come in, we pray for them and ask God to protect their precious family of three.
We know these two will be incredible parents, and we look forward to meeting their daughter very soon.
