Strength For The Called: A Volunteer Highlight Story

Cindy has been a longtime volunteer at Reach Out. She first heard about our ministry through her church, and when she learned that we were a pregnancy center that shares Jesus with moms and dads, she began praying about getting involved. After praying, she felt led to become a Client Advocate, even though she had concerns about serving in her 70s.

As soon as Cindy started volunteering, spiritual warfare set in. She explains it this way:

“On my way to my appointments I would hear this thought every time” You are too old for this. This is for younger people. “I knew it was Satan but part of me thought it was true. I would pray for strength and guidance and still do in the car and that thought was replaced with this one.” you are called to help these little ones and their families. This isn’t about you.I am here to make sure you don’t fail for their sake and my name.” A few mistakes are going to happen but He’s with you.”

With God’s strength guiding her, Cindy has become such a wonderful Client Advocate. The women she serves love her calm, gentle nature, and she has helped plant seeds of faith in so many hearts. Her story is a beautiful reminder that when doubts creep in, God is faithful to meet us there and that age or experience should never keep us from serving when He calls.

About a year and a half later, God brought another special volunteer to our center—Angie—who felt led to serve after walking through her own pregnancy crisis.

“I once experienced a crisis myself and wish I had known about the resources that are now available. That experience shaped my passion for supporting women and families during their most challenging and vulnerable moments. As a Christian, I believe serving the community I live in is an essential part of my faith, and I am grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside others with compassion, hope, and practical support.” Angie told us. 

Angie’s testimony is a powerful reminder of how God can use ALL THINGS for good.
